3 Important New Years Resolutions To Change Your Life This 2018

We’ve talked about the New Year resolutions you can do to handle your money better as a millenial.

Now, if you have time lang naman :), we can also talk about my personal resolutions that are close to my heart. 


Last year, my net worth was x,xxx,xxx. I wasn’t able to double it, because I fell into the trap of lifestyle inflation and because I had increased financial responsibilities at home.

Imagine, I made twice my income this 2017, but I didn’t double it! 


1. This 2018, I’ll double my net worth:


♦ Publish 2nd book 🙂 

My 1st book, “OMG! Where Did Your Sweldo Go?” is doing amazing in sales. It’s a National Bookstore best-seller!

Up until now, I still can’t believe that my millenial friends buy it. I’m so grateful for this blessing, really.

Now, since OFWs are near to my heart (my parents were former OFWs, like most of my family), I’m also releasing a book about it this April 2018. 

I’m terrified.

The thought of releasing my 2nd book makes my palms sweaty.

But the thought of not doing it? I’d regret it! 


♦ Using Cash, NOT Credit Card

Last year, I got my own Unionbank Gold credit card because I wanted to accumulate points for free flights. 

Because of this, I was able to book a round-trip fare to South Korea for only P2,300. 

But because of this, I doubled my monthly spending, too. 🙁

Using your credit card for free flights is only valuable if you’re in the US!

Biruin mo, if your monthly credit card bill is P12,460, you get 451 points only.

But to book a round-trip ticket to Seoul, you need 15,000 points upwards. 

Kamusta naman yun?

This hotel in Osaka is P2,700 per night.

But, if I get this option with GetGo points, I only need to add P200+.

I’d rather pay P200+ to buy 1,350 GetGo points, than to overspend on my credit card and hit P40,500 credit card expenses per month just so I can justify getting points. 

I’ll use cash for all of my expenses, except for flight and accommodation expenses. 

This way, I’ll have more money freed up for my investment account.


♦ Develop 3rd online source of income

I earn money online by: 

1. Selling ebooks online which gives me around 10,000 pesos monthly – here’s how I do it; and, 

2. Writing on Upwork, depending on my free time. 

For my 3rd income source, I’m considering working on my YouTube channel, trading stocks or developing this website. 


I’m sick of the old “I want to lose weight!” New Year resolution!

Last 2016, I weighed 90 kilograms.

Now, I weigh 85 kilograms.

Yes, I lost 5 kilograms.

But I’m still overweight.

2. This year, to save me from tears, I’m targeting 65 kilograms:


♦ Intermittent Fasting

I’ll eat from 10 AM-6 PM (8 hours).

And then I’ll fast from 6 PM-10 AM (16 hours).

“Diets are easy in the contemplation, difficult in the execution. Intermittent fasting is just the opposite — it’s difficult in the contemplation but easy in the execution.”


♦ Ketogenic Diet

My diet will consist of high-fat and low-carb meals. 

On a ketogenic diet, your body will run on fat, not carbs. 

Because your body uses fat as fuel, insulin levels become very low, and fat burning increases dramatically.
