Some hotels are just where you sleep. And then there are hotels that make the whole trip feel like an occasion.
We were celebrating a milestone birthday for someone I love, and from the moment I started planning, I knew I wanted something genuinely special. Not over the top…just the kind of stay where everything is taken care of and nothing feels like an afterthought.
I’d been hearing about Solaire Resort North since it opened in Vertis North, Quezon City: a 38-story luxury integrated resort, the first of its kind in QC. I thought, if not now, when?
It was, without question, the right call.

Why I chose Solaire Resort North
1. It’s the only 5-star luxury resort in Quezon City.
I live on the north side of the metro, and for the longest time, experiencing proper luxury meant driving to BGC or Entertainment City. Solaire North changed that. It’s right in Vertis North, easy to reach, and the experience holds up against any five-star property in the country.
2. Forbes Travel Guide gave it a Four-Star rating in 2026.
Awards matter to me when I’m spending at this level. A Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star recognition means the service, cleanliness, and standards have been formally evaluated. That kind of validation isn’t handed out for a nice lobby.
3. The occasion called for it.
Milestone birthdays only come once. I wanted the birthday celebrant to feel genuinely celebrated, not just comfortably accommodated. There’s a real difference, and Solaire North delivered on that completely.
How much does Solaire Resort North cost?
I booked two Deluxe Double rooms at ₱19,000 (~$339) for one night. Rates vary by date, so check Agoda for updated rates before you go.

At check-in, we were upgraded to a Grand Deluxe room with free breakfast. The Grand Deluxe is a step above in size and positioning, so the upgrade made the value feel even stronger.
For current rates, I always check Agoda before committing to anything. Prices shift by date and room type, and it’s easy to compare options without locking in. If you’re a Solaire Rewards member, watch for their in-house promos. They run them periodically and the discounts are worth it.
Getting to Solaire Resort North in Manila
Solaire Resort North is in Vertis North, Quezon City, right near SM North EDSA.
For anyone on the north side of Metro Manila, it’s convenient in a way that actually changes the math on luxury staycations. Free on-site parking, which is already a win before you even check in. (If you’re also considering a staycation outside Metro Manila, here’s my Hilton Clark review).
The arrival was calm and unhurried. Gwen at the front desk was warm in a way that felt genuine, not scripted. She walked us through the upgrade and made the whole process easy. Camille from reservations had already been so helpful before we arrived, coordinating details ahead of time.
Both of them made check-in feel like the start of something good.
Solaire Resort North’s Grand Deluxe room

The Grand Deluxe is 49 square meters and a corner unit, which means floor-to-ceiling windows on two walls. You walk in and the entire QC skyline is just there. Maaliwalas doesn’t even cover it. I stood at the door for a full minute before touching anything.
The carpet has a deep navy and gold artistic pattern that you notice right away. It gives the room a very design-intentional feel that I appreciated. The bed is large and genuinely comfortable, with a leather bench at the foot and warm brass wall lamps on the headboard. The sitting area has a proper gray sofa and marble coffee table.
The whole Solaire Resort North room functions like a suite.

The aircon was consistent through the night, not the kind that switches off at 2am and leaves you sweating. And the room smelled clean in a way I actually took note of. We’ve stayed at hotels where there’s a faint musty undertone you try not to think about. Nothing like that here.
It smelled fresh from the moment we walked in to the moment we checked out.

The bathroom has a deep soaking tub with gold brass fittings and a marble finish, plus a separate rain shower. It’s the kind of bathroom that makes you actually want to use the tub rather than just noting it exists.
One thing I want to mention because it’s the kind of detail that tells you a lot about a hotel: we called housekeeping for extra water and tea, and they were at our door quickly. No long wait, no following up. Just done. That kind of responsiveness matters, especially when you’re trying to fully relax and not think about logistics.
The Birthday Setup

When we got to the room, Solaire had already prepared everything: a flower bouquet with roses, carnations, and baby’s breath in deep reds, pinks, and yellows; a personalized letter board message; and pink and red balloons on the marble side table. The birthday celebrant teared up. I honestly almost did too.
That evening, they delivered an in-room birthday spread.

A proper charcuterie board: prosciutto and salami on small brioche rolls, fresh fruit plate with watermelon, pineapple, strawberry, and kiwi, a bread basket, a bottle of wine, and San Pellegrino. All plated on a white tablecloth table, with the pink balloons framing the scene.

It was so much more than I expected, and it turned an already great stay into something I’ll remember for a long time.
Solaire North Buffet Breakfast at Fresh International Buffet

Full disclosure: I went back three times. The buffet earned it.
The Fresh International Buffet runs from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM daily, and there are stations for every kind of morning person. The Japanese station had California rolls, Philadelphia maki, and oshinko maki, all beautifully presented on dark stone platters with bamboo accents.

The Western Station is where I found the roasted vegetable soup that I keep thinking about. Warm, rich, and honestly perfect for a hotel breakfast. There was also Coq Au Vin, chicken chipolatas with bell peppers, bacon on the griddle, and whole potatoes.

Then the Filipino Station.
Corned beef. Ginisang gulay. Chicken tocino. All the morning ulam you actually want, at a five-star hotel buffet. Some properties do a Filipino station as a token gesture. Solaire North’s felt like they actually meant it.

The cold cuts shelf had mango triple, blueberry, strawberry, and Greek yogurt on the top row, then salami Milano, farmer’s ham, turkey ham, and mortadella below, with jams, honey syrup, Dijon mustard, and horseradish. It was a lot. It was a spread worth taking your time with. We especially enjoyed the Mango Triple yogurt and chilled taho.

And then, the kakanin corner.

Sapin-sapin. Kutsinta. Cassava cake. All properly made. This is what separates a genuinely Filipino luxury hotel from one that’s just borrowing the label.
I ordered a sunny side up egg and asked for the whites to be fully set, yung sunod na yung gilid — and that’s exactly what came out, in the middle of a busy buffet service. That kind of attention to a simple egg request is the sort of thing you don’t forget.
The hot chocolate with batirol also deserves a mention. That batirol alone was worth waking up early.
For reference, the breakfast buffet is ₱1,300++ (~$23) per person if your room doesn’t include it. The rooms I booked already came with it, but even paid separately, I’d say yes.
Solaire Resort North Pool

The outdoor pool has an infinity feel with a clear view of the QC skyline above the rooftops. Lounge chairs with striped towels, navy blue umbrellas, lifeguard on duty, it’s properly set up for an actual pool day, not just a photo op.
I’d recommend going in the morning before it gets busy.
Hot Lounge Spa
We spent time at the Hot Lounge Spa, and I’ll say this: our muscles were very grateful. It’s a proper relaxation experience. Not a quick-in-quick-out situation, but actual therapeutic time to decompress. The facilities are spotless and well-maintained.
For Travelling Titas who want the full treatment, the spa has couples’ rooms, sauna, steam, and a full menu. The Health Club is also complimentary for in-house guests, along with the outdoor fitness deck (pickleball court included, for those of you who are now into that).
The Dining Options (Beyond Breakfast)
We only had one night, so we didn’t get to try all the restaurants, but I want to mention them because they’re genuinely worth planning around if you’re staying longer.
Solaire North has 14 dining venues in total. The ones I’m going back for: Finestra, their Italian steakhouse, which is being talked about as one of the best new restaurant openings in QC. Yakumi, their Japanese restaurant, sources fresh seafood twice a week directly from Tokyo’s Toyosu Fish Market. Not “Japan-inspired.” Actually from Japan. And Red Lantern for Chinese cuisine if that’s what your table is in the mood for.
If you’re planning a celebratory dinner or a date night, any of these would be worth building the evening around.
The Mangrove: the world record you didn’t know you’d be seeing
Before you check out, find The Mangrove. It’s Solaire North’s Guinness World Record installation: a towering glass tube sculpture made of over 16,000 individually crafted glass pieces, 25 meters high. It holds the record for the largest glass tube installation in the world, designed by American sculptor Nikolas Weinstein and four years in the making.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know the full story of it during our stay. When I looked it up after, I wished I’d spent more time just standing in front of it. If you’re there, don’t walk past it. It’s the kind of thing that reminds you that Solaire North isn’t just a hotel with nice rooms. There’s real intention behind this place.
My Honest Verdict
Here’s what I’d tell a friend: Solaire Resort North is worth it.
The service is attentive without hovering. The food is good across every station, not just the curated ones. The room is genuinely beautiful. Housekeeping responds.
And the birthday setup proved that this hotel was paying attention to why we were there, not just that we were there.
What makes Solaire North different from other luxury properties in Metro Manila is simple: the location. Vertis North changes the math entirely for anyone living on the north side of the city. You no longer have to factor in an hour of southbound traffic to justify a proper staycation. That convenience, paired with a Forbes Four-Star level of execution, makes it genuinely hard to argue against.
If I’m being precise about the 4.9: the one thing that would push this to a full 5 is a longer stay.
One night wasn’t enough to do it justice. Fourteen dining venues, a full spa menu, a world-record art installation in the lobby. You need at least two nights to experience this property the way it’s meant to be experienced.
For Travelling Titas on the north side of Metro Manila who’ve been looking for a reason to splurge, a milestone birthday counts. An anniversary counts. A season of hard work that you’ve earned the right to celebrate counts too.
Request a high floor at check-in. The higher up you are, the better the view, and the view is part of what you’re paying for.
My rating: 4.9/5 ⭐
